Brunching

Last Sunday we invited my brother and his wife for brunch. It was more like a breakfast and less like a lunch, but we were only 4 people so we couldn’t have a larger variety of food. We’ve been meaning to do this brunch for a long time now. You see, we bought a waffle maker about a year ago, and hadn’t tested it until now. It was the end of the summer, the temperatures had dropped enough, and my brother and sister-in-law weren’t going anywhere out of town for the weekend, so it was the perfect chance to finally arrange it. I woke up at 8am, something that rarely happens since I’m not working, and I hate waking up early, and headed to the kitchen to start the preparations. 3 hours later, we were ready, and waiting for them to come. Be ready for lots of food pics…Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

My month in pics – August 2012

Another month comes to an end and takes with it our precious summer! Although summer in Greece is far from over, I can’t hide the fact that I get a little bit depressed every time this happens. It’s not that I love summer, no! I actually hate the scorching heat that goes with it…I’m a spring girl at heart. That’s my favorite season.  But when summer is over, it means that we’re going into fall and then winter (my least favorite season). I can’t help it but feel depressed by this change, when nature changes again, and we can see nothing but fallen leaves (which I admit can be very romantic) and naked trees, and most important of all, the time changes again! This time change from summer to winter is what depress me the most, when the days become shorter, and the nights longer… When the darkness comes at 5pm instead of 8.30-9.30 p.m that does in summer… Oh summer time I’ll miss you the most! At least we have almost 2 more months until the time change!

But let’s see a little recap of my August, the last summer month:

Mom’s birthday party

Last week we celebrated my mom’s birthday, and I insisted on having a little gathering for her and her friends at our house. Of course I prepared many things for our friends to eat and drink. Today, I’m sharing them with you, together with the outfit I wore that night.

Miss Robin Hood | Outfit post

This is the post I was originally going to publish last Friday, but decided to postpone, since almost nobody would be there to read it. I know August is the month in which most of you go on holidays, especially Greeks, because in August the 15th we celebrate the Assumption of Mary (as I told you last year too), one of the most important religious holidays in Greece (after Christmas and Easter). And because I really liked this outfit, I didn’t want to “waste a good outfit” and not give it the attention it “deserves”, so I decided to postpone it.  hehe

Chalkidiki Diary

As you already know, 2 weeks after my vacation to Chios, I left again, this time for Chalkidiki, the heaven on earth for us living in Thessaloniki. When I go to Chalkidiki, I usually stay at my cousin’s summer house, just outside N.Marmaras. The house is in a very quiet area, surrounded by trees, and almost-wild nature, and it’s only a few meters away from the beach (although you need to walk a lot to get there). My uncle bought the land many years ago, and built a cute house there, under 2 huge plane trees (platanus). You may remember telling you how much I love the platanus smell on last year’s post about Chalkidiki.
