Day 3 in Chios – Pirgi, Mesta, Emporios, Komi

Day 3 of our trip to Chios was completely free from wedding stuff. My aunt and cousin didn’t need us, so it was the perfect chance to start touring the island a bit. With my mom as our tour guide, we took our rental car, and begin our trip to Mastichochoria (the mastic villages in Greek). I took many photos so be prepared for a picture loaded post again.

Our first stop was the medieval village Pirgi, which has the largest population of Mastichochoria. Most of Pirgi’s houses are painted with the “xista” technique, which makes the village unique. Here’s a small sample of the houses, and the village.

Pre-wedding preparations and bachelorette party

The second day after our arrival to Chios island we were invited to attend the pre-wedding preparations, which was a gathering at the house of the bride & groom to be, in order to make the matrimonial bed, and follow the common traditions. Per tradition, all unmarried ladies gather around to make the bed. The groom or the bride (depending on the local traditions) messes the bed 3 times, until he/she’s finally satisfied with the result. After that, they usually put a baby girl or baby boy on the bed (to bring fertility to the future spouses). Then, all guests throw rice/sugar-coated almonds (koufeta)/rose petals and money on the bed to wish prosperity for the couple. There’s usually a food buffet, and a traditional drink included.

This is what I chose to wear that day!

Pearl Bay Hotel – Chios

As you very well know, I spent 7 days at Chios island, for my cousin’s wedding, so I took many photos to share with you after my return. As soon as I booked our flight, I searched online for the perfect hotel for us to stay, when we get there. I’m very picky, when it comes to hotels, because I’m much of a germ phobic, and in addition to this, really old hotels with heavy decoration, cause me depression. That’s why I search a lot online for the perfect hotel, wherever I go, and so far I had the best of luck with my choices. And in this case, my choice was perfect! The hotel couldn’t be better!

My interview to Greek Beauty Bloggers

A few weeks ago, the Greek Beauty Bloggers’ team posted the interview I gave them some months ago. When someone new joins the community, he is asked if they want to give an interview for their readers, in order to get to know them better. I gave mine around January, but I guess due to the fact that they have many members, and therefore interviews, it got posted at the start of this month…My Greek readers may have already read it (if not, click here to read it in Greek), but I wanted to translate it in order to show it here on the blog as well. Some things have changed since then, but it was my first interview ever, so I want to thank the Greek Beauty Bloggers’ team for giving me the chance to be part of their community. This is gonna be a long post, so I ask you in advance to forgive me for that! 🙂 Hope you like it!
