Vacation Diary

I’ve been meaning to show you where I’ve been on my vacations, and what better way than showing you some of the pics I took.

As my frequent readers already know, the 2nd part of my summer vacation included sunbathing at the beach in N.Marmaras, Chalkidiki. I’ve been going to this place almost every summer of my life, as my cousins have a house there.

Summer cocktails

Summer isn’t over yet; in fact here in Greece most people are taking their summer leave near August 15th, which is a national holiday (August 15th is one of the biggest holidays in Greece, as it’s the Assumption of Mary according to Christians).

This post isn’t about fashion but it has to do with one of my passions. That is summer cocktails. Not only do I like drinking them, but I also love making them. That’s something that I “inherited” from my father. He always liked to have all possible drinks at home, so he could make cocktails and other drinks for his friends. This way, everyone would be happy.

Today, I’ll write about my favourite kind of cocktails, sweet ones! Basically, margaritas but with a twist, making them more close to my personal likings.

If you are under-aged, this is not a post for you!

Basic Margarita Recipe (not pictured-altered to fit my likings!)

Instructions: In a cocktail shaker combine all ingredients with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a salt rimmed stemware or Martini glass. Garnish with a slice of lime.

2 oz. tequila

2 oz. Cointreau

3 oz. lime juice

1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Strawberry Margarita

Using the Basic Margarita recipe, use again 2 oz. Tequila, 2 oz. Cointreau, 2 oz. of lime juice this time and add some fresh strawberries (or strawberry juice if you like – about 3 oz. of it). Instead of salt, use sugar to rim you glasses. Garnish with a strawberry or a slice of lime again.

Vienna moments Part 3 (and last)

This is the 3rd and last part of my trip to Vienna. If you haven’t read the other parts yet, here you can find the 1st part and the 2nd part.

The 5th day, started really nice, the weather was hot and the day sunny, so we finally decided to visit the Schönbrunn Palace, to walk through its gardens and maybe visit the zoo too. So, we took the subway again, and headed there.

Vienna moments Part 2

This is my second post about my trip to Wien. If you haven’t read the first part you can read it here. It’s gonna be huge again, as I want to keep it as a journal of our trip to Vienna, so please excuse me.

On Day 3 of our trip, we took the subway to go to Mariahilferstraße, the most famous shopping street of Vienna. It’s a really long street and you need a lot of time just to cross it, let alone visit many of its shops. The weather was really good (it felt like spring-finally), so we took a walk to see all the stores. In our way up, we visited the H&M store to see if it had the same items, as in Greece, and we ended up buying some of them. After all it was already sales season, and the prices were really low. I bought a pair of boyfriend jean shorts, which are very comfortable, a summer dress, and a shirt-dress I was searching for, for a long time. And all under 50 euros!

After that, we stopped for some coffee, rested, took some pictures, and continued walking.

Vienna moments Part 1

Starting with a warning, this post is huge, so bear with me.

On 2/7 I went on vacation to Vienna with my boyfriend, after planning it for about a month.  One of my best friends was there for Erasmus, for the last 6 months, so it was the perfect chance to visit the city, and see her too. I wanted to make this post sooner, but I had to organize my photos and furthermore, I had other obligations too.

We stayed there for 5 full days, and I think we saw as much as we could.

On Day 1 we went from the airport to our rented apartment, which was perfect and quite close to the city center, and then went out for lunch to taste the famous Wiener schnitzel. Our friend took us to one of the most famous restaurants (Figlmuller), to try the huge schnitzel, and my appetite was quite satisfied! 🙂 We also tried the potato salad, which was perfect and the spritzer, which I didn’t like because I don’t like club soda at all.
