In this week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, titled “Someone to watch over me”, we saw, once again, some beautiful outfits by Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario).
Something that caught my eye was the striped white/red blouse she wore, that reminded me of the Jean Paul Gaultier Striped Sweater from his Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
One more great TV Series came to an end. It’s so sad when this happens. Greek was one of the many series I’ve been watching, and I liked it because it was fun watching the characters go through college and having the same experiences that many of us may already have. Like boyfriend troubles, or how difficult it might be to choose a career, having sexuality issues, partying till the sun comes up (while drinking like there’s no tomorrow, and waking up the next day with a terrible hangover), money problems and wondering what to do next, after graduation. All these while watching the college experience through fraternities, sororities and the whole “Greek system” in action. After 4 seasons, it was Greek’s time to have the big finale, and I think it was amazing. If you haven’t seen it and you like watching series with this theme, you should definitely give it a chance. Are you familiar with “Pretty Little Liars”tv show? I started watching it (when it first aired), during the summer break of all the other TV shows I’m currently watching, and to be honest it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. However, it was interesting enough to keep me watching it and I’m glad I did, because it turned out to be a very good one.
The series follow the lives of Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily, four girls whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their queen bee, Alison. One year later, they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure using the name “A” who threatens to expose their secrets — including long-hidden ones they thought only Alison knew (Source).
The show had a four month break after September, and it continued its 1st season on January 3rd. From then, the story got darker, the fashion way better and the characters more interesting. I can describe the show, as a mixture of Sex and the City, in a more teen way (four basic female characters, who are close friends, each with her own style and personality), and Gossip Girl (don’t tell me you don’t see the resemblance between “A” and “Gossip Girl”? They both have a way to know all the dirty secrets and threatening to expose them. Plus, we don’t have a clue of who they really are. And they both have a Queen bee character. For “Pretty Little Liars” it was Alison, and for “Gossip Girl”, the one and only, Blair Waldorf). Furthermore, Pretty Little Liars takes place mostly in a high school, like Gossip Girl did in the first seasons, and its fashion style has evolved a lot. Each character has a unique and very interesting style, which the audience has begun to imitate, as well as Sex & the City’s and Gossip Girl’s.
After the – not-so-successful – Sex and the City 2 movie, we heard that Sex and the City’s prequel, “The Carrie Diaries”, is about to be made into a movie. “The Carrie Diaries” was written by Sex and the City’s author Candace Bushnell, in 2010 but it’s actually a book about Carrie’s early years before she came to NY.
When it comes to series with amazing fashion, the first one that pops into my head is definitely CW’s Gossip Girl. Not only it has an interesting plot and very good music, it also shows the latest fashion trends. And who’s better to show off these trends, than the young, rich and powerful crème de la crème of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The intro says it all: “Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite”.
