Summer cocktails

Summer isn’t over yet; in fact here in Greece most people are taking their summer leave near August 15th, which is a national holiday (August 15th is one of the biggest holidays in Greece, as it’s the Assumption of Mary according to Christians).

This post isn’t about fashion but it has to do with one of my passions. That is summer cocktails. Not only do I like drinking them, but I also love making them. That’s something that I “inherited” from my father. He always liked to have all possible drinks at home, so he could make cocktails and other drinks for his friends. This way, everyone would be happy.

Today, I’ll write about my favourite kind of cocktails, sweet ones! Basically, margaritas but with a twist, making them more close to my personal likings.

If you are under-aged, this is not a post for you!

Basic Margarita Recipe (not pictured-altered to fit my likings!)

Instructions: In a cocktail shaker combine all ingredients with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a salt rimmed stemware or Martini glass. Garnish with a slice of lime.

2 oz. tequila

2 oz. Cointreau

3 oz. lime juice

1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Strawberry Margarita

Using the Basic Margarita recipe, use again 2 oz. Tequila, 2 oz. Cointreau, 2 oz. of lime juice this time and add some fresh strawberries (or strawberry juice if you like – about 3 oz. of it). Instead of salt, use sugar to rim you glasses. Garnish with a strawberry or a slice of lime again.

A forest full of plane trees…

That’s my idea of paradise! I would love to live next to a forest of plane trees (platanus). Their smell is the best smell in the world, it instantly puts a smile on my face. I’m lucky enough to be living under two of those trees for a few days, since I’m still at my cousin’s house in Chalkidiki. Growing up, I spent most of my summers in this house. So, the smell of plane trees is something that brings me back so many childhood memories. I once begged my mum to plant some of these trees in our garden, but unfortunately I didn’t succeed. Thankfully, there’s a whole forest of those, really close to my house so I can go there and enjoy a walk among them, while taking advantage of their thick shade and smell them as much as I like! 🙂

I went there again a few days ago to take these pictures for my blog, and I promise to go back again really soon. I couldn’t really decide on which ones to include here, so I have to warn you that there’s going to be a picture load on this post.

Purple and Yellow

Hello my dear readers! How is everyone? Today I’m leaving for vacation again, I’m going to stay at my cousins’ house in Chalkidiki for a week. So, all the posts you’ll read from me this week are written in advance. I’m still going to read and approve your comments during my stay there, so please give me your thoughts in the comment section below.

My boyfriend took all the photos of this post. He’s helping me as much as he can lately, and I want to thank him for this. I really appreciate it.

In the navy

in the navy 5Yet another nameday has come, and yet another reason to go out and celebrate the best way we know, eating. If you are Greek, you’re familiar with this. Many people in one of my previous posts told me, that this is really common in their country too. I’m glad we’re not the only ones!
